Lincoln Center Theater has extended Greg Pierce’s world premiere production of Slowgirl through July 29 at the new Claire Tow Theater. Directed by Anne Kauffman, Slowgirl opened to critical acclaim on June 18 and was initially set to close on July 15. The two-hander stars Emmy winner Zeljko Ivanek and Sarah Steele.
Slowgirl is the story of Becky (Steele), a teenager who flees to the Costa Rican retreat of her reclusive uncle (Ivanek) to escape the aftermath of a horrific accident at a high school party. The week they spend together forces them both to confront who they are as well as what it is they are running from.
Slowgirl features set design by Rachel Hauck, costume design by Emily Rebholz, lighting design by Japhy Weideman and sound design by Leah Gelpe. It is the first production to play the Claire Tow Theater as part of LCT3, a programming initiative devoted to producing the work of new artists as well as developing new audiences.
