Jackie Clune, Bonnie Langford, Natalie Casey and more will star in the forthcoming U.K. premiere of 9 to 5: The Musical, according to Daily Mail. The musical features music and lyrics by Dolly Parton and a book by Patricia Resnick. 9 to 5 will begin performances at Manchester’s Opera House on October 12 through October 20, with opening night set for October 12. Following the limited engagement, 9 to 5 will tour throughout the U.K., including Wimbledon, Sunderland, Woking, Glasgow, Stroke-on-Trent, Edinburgh, Oxford Brighton, Liverpool, Bromley, York and more.
Based on the film of the same name, 9 to 5 is a musical comedy about three working women who team up to overthrow their egotistical, sexist boss. Casey will star as Judy Bernly (played by Jane Fonda in the film), Clune will play Violet Newstead (Lily Tomlin) and Amy Lennox will star as Doralee Rhodes (Parton). Langford stars as Roz, the busybody office manager, and Ben Richards has been tapped to play their chauvinistic boss, Franklin Hart.
Langford has appeared on Broadway in Chicago and Gypsy. Her London credits include Cats, Chicago and Spamalot. Clune’s West End credits include Billy Elliot and touring productions of Mamma Mia! Casey is currently starring in Abigail’s Party in the West End. Additional credits include Legally Blonde and BBC’s Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps. Lennox’s London credits include Legally Blonde on tour and The Sound of Music in the West End. Richards’ West End credits include Guys and Dolls, Saturday Night Fever, Priscilla Queen of the Desert and The Full Monty.
