British stage stars Tamsin Greig, Doon Mackichan and Bel Powley will reprise their roles in April de Angelis’ Jumpy, which transfers from the Royal Court Theatre to the Duke of York's Theatre in the West End. The Nina Raine-helmed production will begin performances on August 16 and play a limited engagement through November 3.
In addition to Greig and Mackichan, a number of other cast members are recreating their roles from the original 2011 Royal Court production including Seline Hizli (House of Bernarda Alba, Land Girls), Richard Lintern (His Girl Friday, Dial M for Murder), James Musgrave (Wanderlust, Any Human Heart) and Ewan Stewart (Much Ado About Nothing, Beautiful Burnout). Jumpy will also feature Ben Lloyd-Hughes (The Way of the World, The Hour) and Amanda Root (Persuasion, The Norman Conquests).
Jumpy centers on Hilary (Greig), a 50-year-old mother and wife who once protested at Greenham, an American Air Force base in the UK that stored missiles. These days, her protests are focused more on persuading her teenage daughter Tilly (Powley) to leave the house fully clothed. Mackichan plays Frances, Hilary's flamboyant best friend.
Greig, best known for her work on the British TV comedy Black Books, won an Olivier Award for her role as Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing at the Royal Shakespeare Company. Her West End credits include God of Carnage and The Little Dog Laughed and she also appeared in Gethsemane at the National Theatre. Other television credits include Tamara Drewe, Cuckoo, Episodes, Friday Night Dinner, Green Wing, Love Soup and the BBC adaptation of Jane Austen’s Emma.
Powley made her Broadway debut in 2011 in Arcadia and previously appeared at the Royal Court in Tusk Tusk.
Mackichan has appeared on the West End in Boeing-Boeing, The Government Inspector at Young Vic and The Queen and I at the Royal Court.
Jumpy is designed by Lizzie Clachan, with lighting by Peter Mumford and sound by Paul Arditti.
