HBO Renews Aaron Sorkin's The Newsroom for a Second Season

The Newsroom, the new HBO drama from Oscar winner and Broadway playwright Aaron Sorkin, will return for a second season. The show takes a behind-the-scenes look at a fictional cable news network whose staff is determined deliver the news well in the face of corporate and commercial obstacles. The show stars Jeff Daniels as news anchor Will McAvoy and began its first season on June 24.

In addition to Daniels, The Newsroom features Broadway vets Alison Pill, John Gallagher, Jr., Thomas Sadoski, David Cromer, Jane Fonda, and Sam Waterston, along with Emily Mortimer, Olivia Munn and Dev Patel.
