Broadway.com has a brand new backstage video blogger: The Book of Mormon’s Tony-nominated star Rory O’Malley. In the blockbuster musical O’Malley plays veteran missionary Elder McKinley and delivers the hilariously flashy number “Turn It Off.” Broadway.com has given O'Malley his very own camera to help capture all the behind-the-scenes gags and daily life at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre.
In the Tony-winning musical The Book of Mormon, O’Malley’s character welcomes new Mormon missionaries Elder Price (Nic Rouleau) and Elder Cunningham (Cale Krise) to Africa and helps them settle into their unfamiliar surroundings. O’Malley has previously appeared on Broadway in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and originated the role of Richie Cunningham in Happy Days at Goodspeed Opera House. He can also be spotted with his boyfriend Gerald Schroeder in Gap’s Be One advertising campaign.
The first episode of The Book of Rory will premiere on July 5, with new episodes airing every Thursday.
