The New York premiere production of Bullet for Adolf begins previews on July 19. Directed by Woody Harrelson and co-written by Harrelson and Frankie Hyman, the play will officially open at off-Broadway's New World Stages on August 8. Bullet For Adolf will play a limited engagement through September 9.
Bullet for Adolf is set during the summer of 1983, in the sweltering heat of Houston, where an unlikely friendship is formed as a couple of mid-western rubes with uncertain futures meet up with a slick New Yorker on the run from his past. The disappearance of a WWII artifact sets off a chain of events that proves that nothing changes the present like a blast from the past. The play features two characters based on Harrelson and Hyman, as well as other people they knew, though the events depicted are fiction and the names have been changed to protect the not-so-innocent.
The off-Broadway cast features Marsha Stephanie Blake (The Merchant of Venice, Hurt Village), Shamika Cotton (TV's The Wire), Nick Wyman (Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables), Lee Osorio, Brandon Coffey, David Coomber, Shannon Garland and Tyler Jacob Rollinson.
