After a two-show day, Broadway’s pet-owning performers love nothing more than coming home to their number one fan: a loyal four-legged friend. In honor of the annual Broadway Barks dog and cat adoption event, coming up on July 14 in Shubert Alley, we asked stage couples to show their puppy love by telling us all about their furry pals.
JEREMY WOODARD (Stacee Jaxx in Rock of Ages) and CAMERON ADAMS (Olive in Nice Work If You Can Get It)
What is your pet’s name and breed?
Our dog’s name is Rudy, and he is a Lab mix.
How did your pet get its name?
Rudy got his name from the movie Rudy!
What is your pet’s favorite pastime?
Haha, Rudy LOVES to play basketball. Since he can't shoot, he gets a point every time he steals the ball. He's pretty good too!
Does your pet know any tricks?
Yup. Rudy can sit, shake, lay down and roll over. He can also kiss on command, but his best trick is he can balance a bone on his nose and then flip it off and catch it in the air. We are most proud of that one. :)
What’s the funniest thing your pet has done?
Well—he does this often—when he passes gas, he gets startled and stares at his butt. It's hilarious!
What’s the naughtiest thing your pet has done?
We were having a party at the apartment one night and we neatly organized a platter with meats and cheeses. We turned our backs for a second and Rudy had eaten all of the pepperoni off the platter.
Do you look like your pet?
Jeremy: Cameron says Rudy and I look alike. I guess she’s kind of right!
