Broadway.com has a brand new backstage video blogger: Bring It On’s Ryann Redmond! In the cheerleading musical, Redmond plays Bridget, an outsider who longingly watches the in-crowd at Truman High School from her unglamorous post as cheerleading mascot. Things change for Bridget when she transfers to another school and gets a lot of attention. Broadway.com has armed Redmond with a video camera to help capture all the behind-the-scenes action at the St. James Theatre in her very own video blog, Cheer Factor.
Featuring a book by Jeff Whitty (Avenue Q), music by Lin-Manuel Miranda (In the Heights) and Tom Kitt (Next to Normal) and lyrics by Miranda and Amanda Green (High Fidelity), the musical is inspired by the hit 2000 film of the same name. Bring It On mixes the high-stakes world of competitive cheerleading with cutthroat high school politics and tells the story of the challenges and unexpected bonds formed through the thrill of extreme competition.
The first episode of Cheer Factor will premiere on July 30, with new episodes airing every Monday.
