The Broadway revival of Annie starts performances at the Palace Theatre.
Inspired by the famous comic strip Little Orphan Annie, Annie first opened on Broadway on April 21, 1977. The musical played 2,377 performances before closing on January 2, 1983. The show, which follows a young Depression era orphan who goes to temporarily live with the rich and famous Daddy Warbucks, won the Tony Award for Best Musical. The show features music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Martin Charnin and a book by Thomas Meehan
