The world premiere of Theresa Rebeck’s new play Dead Accounts will now officially open on Broadway on November 29. The new comedy, directed by Jack O’Brien and starring Katie Holmes and two-time Tony winner Norbert Leo Butz, was initially scheduled to open the day before on November 28. Despite the opening night change, preview performances of Dead Accounts will still begin on November 3 at Broadway's Music Box Theatre.
In the five-character comedy, Jack’s (Butz) unexpected return throws his family into a frenzy, and his sister Lorna (Holmes) needs answers. Is he coming home or running away? Where is his wife everyone hates? How did he get all that money? Dead Accounts tackles the issues of corporate greed, small town values and whether or not your family will always welcome you back with no questions asked.
Dead Accounts received its world premiere in the winter of 2011 at the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park. The remainder of the five-character cast and the show’s creative team will be announced shortly.
