The New York Philharmonic’s 2011 concert staging of Company, which featured an all-star cast including Neil Patrick Harris, Patti LuPone, Stephen Colbert and more, will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray November 13. The concert, which was screened in theaters in June 2011, was performed live in April 2011 at Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall.
Featuring music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by George Furth, Company is the story of Bobby (Harris), a middle-aged, single New Yorker who spends his time observing the relationships of his married, engaged and divorced friends. Directed by Lonny Price and conducted by Paul Gemignani, Company was performed by the Philharmonic using the original orchestrations of Jonathan Tunick.
In addition to Harris as Bobby, the Lincoln Center mounting of Company starred Anika Noni Rose as Marta, Katie Finneran as Amy, Christina Hendricks as April, Martha Plimpton as Sarah, Colbert as Harry, John Cryer as David, LuPone as Joanne, Jim Walton as Larry, Craig Bierko as Peter, Aaron Lazar as Paul, Jill Paice as Susan, Jennifer Laura Thompson as Jenny and Chryssie Whitehead as Kathy.
