As the acclaimed run of One Man, Two Guvnors heads toward its final week, leading man James Corden is walking away showered in awards glory, and Tom Edden has earned bragging rights as a Tony-nominated surprise stand-out. Their co-star Oliver Chris deserves equal praise for his turn as Corden's sensationally smug, slightly sadistic and dim-witted boss, Stanley Stubbers. Playing the goofily pompous Brit to heightened levels of lunacy, Chris nails his dirty-minded (and testicle joke-heavy) dialogue, accompanied by a range of grins and sneers. And while his character may not always get the last laugh in a scene, Chris closes act one with a jaw-dropping moment that leaves the audience murmuring in delight and disbelief. And we haven't even mentioned his magnificent musical moment, honking away on a bizarre instrument known as the "hornchestra!" Be sure to catch the no-limits humor of Chris and his wacky co-stars before this masterfully crafted comedy concludes its limited engagement at the Music Box Theatre on September 2.
