Casting is complete for the forthcoming Center Theatre Group production of Seminar, starring previously announced Oscar and Emmy nominee Jeff Goldblum. Joining Goldblum in Theresa Rebeck’s comedy are Aya Cash, Patrick Heusinger, Jennifer Ikeda and Greg Keller. Directed by Sam Gold, the production begins performances October 10 at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles. Opening night is set for October 17, and the production will play a limited engagement through November 18.
Seminar is the story of acclaimed novelist Leonard (Goldblum) as he teaches a private literary class to a group of four young writers. Under Leonard’s recklessly brilliant and unorthodox instruction, some thrive and others flouder, alliances are made and broken, sex is used as a weapon and hearts are unmoored. Seminar originally opened on Broadway on November 20, 2011, starring Alan Rickman as Leonard. Goldblum took over the role of Leonard on April 3, before the production closed on May 6. The Los Angeles mounting will feature the complete design team from the Broadway production.
