Lady Gaga has traced her love of wigs and costumes to her days as a high school stage actress, and now the pop superstar has tweeted a rare photo of herself, handkerchief in hand, as Miss Adelaide in Guys and Dolls. “Some things never change,” Gaga wrote. “Here’s a photo of me in high school in the school play (set that wig and did my own makeup!).”
The former Stefani Germanotta graduated from the all-girls’ Convent of the Sacred Heart on Manhattan’s Upper East Side in 2004 and returned to her alma mater to film a Thanksgiving TV special that aired on ABC in 2011. Sacred Heart collaborated on plays and musicals with male performers from Regis High School, a nearby Catholic boys’ school.
In a 2011 MTV special Lady Gaga: Inside the Outside, she called playing Adelaide in Guys and Dolls “the greatest moment of high school. I tell you, I still dream about it.”
