Becky Ann Baker, Tony nominee Peter Friedman, Sarah Goldberg, Keith Nobbs, Joyce Van Patten and Erin Wilhelmi will star in the world premiere of Amy Herzog’s The Great God Pan at Playwrights Horizons. Directed by Carolyn Cantor, the production will begin previews in late November 2012 at the Mainstage Theater. Opening night is set for December 18. Van Patten is replacing Judith Ivey, who had to drop out of the production due to scheduling conflicts. Additional dates and casting will be announced shortly.
The Great God Pan is the story of Jamie, whose life in Brooklyn seems just fine: a beautiful girlfriend, a budding journalism career and parents who live just far enough away. But when a possible trauma comes to light, lives are thrown into a tailspin. The production will star Baker as Cathy, Friedman as Doug, Goldberg as Paige, Nobbs as Frank, Van Patten as Polly and Erin Wilhelmi as Joelle.
Baker has appeared on Broadway in Good People, All My Sons, Assassins, Titanic, A Streetcar Named Desire and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. Her film and TV credits include Nights in Rodanthe, Stay, The Night Listener, Two Week’s Notice, Kings, Nurse Jackie, Freaks and Geeks, Smash, Sex and the City and Oz.
Friedman’s Broadway credits include Twelve Angry Men, Ragtime, The Tenth Man, The Heidi Chronicles, Execution of Justice, Piaf, The Rules of the Game, Love for Love, Holiday, Chemin de Fer, The Visit, Don Juan and The Great God Brown. His film and TV credits include Spinning Into Butter, Safe, Single White Femal and The Muppet Show.
Goldberg is currently appearing on Broadway in Clybourne Park after starring in the West End production. She appeared off-Broadway in Look Back in Anger. Her film and TV credits include The Dark Knight Rises, Gambit, A Bunch of Amateurs and Any Human Heart.
Nobbs has appeared on Broadway in Lombardi and The Lion in Winter. His film and TV credits include The Pacific, In Treatment, the Sopranos, Double Whammy, Phone Booth and Premium.
Van Patten’s many Broadway credits include The People in the Picture, Taller Than a Dwarf, Ring Round the Moon, More to Love, Jake’s Women, Brighton Beach Memoirs, The Supporting Cast and I Ought to Be in Pictures. Her film and TV credits include Grown Ups, This Must Be the Place, The Good Wife and Without a Trace.
Wilhelmi’s New York theater credits include The Girl From Nashville, Likeness, Folly of Crowds and Fur. Her film credits include The Perks of Being a Wallflower, The English Teacher and Disconnect.
