Music Mix: 54 Below’s Marin Mazzie on Liza Minnelli, Sammy Davis Jr. and Feeling Sexy

Summer may be coming to an end, but the fun doesn’t stop at 54 Below, the Theater District nightclub attracting many of Broadway’s biggest stars. Three-time Tony nominee Marin Mazzie (Ragtime, Passion, Kiss Me, Kate) is performing a new solo show at 54 Below through September 8. Below, Mazzie recalls being influenced by Liza Minnelli, how her husband makes her smile and what gets her pumped up while working out.

What concert most influenced you as a performer?
Liza with a “Z” when I saw it on TV in 1972.

What song are you most excited to perform in your show?
All of them!

If you can invite any performer onstage for a duet at 54 Below, who would it be?
My husband Jason Danieley, who isn't even able to see this show because he is rehearsing Sunday in the Park with George in Chicago.

Whatever show I was doing.

“Our House."

I don't need one to feel sexy.

My husband singing anything.
