Stephen Schwartz will team with Oscar winner A.R. Rahman for an upcoming Dreamworks animated movie with the working title of Mumbai Musical, according to Deadline.com. Rahman will provide music for the movie's songs, with Schwartz contributing lyrics. Both will serve as executive producers. Directed by Kevin Lima, the movie will feature a screenplay by David Sussman. No casting or release date have been announced at this time.
Mumbai Musical is a Bollywood style musical that will be told from the point of view of a group of monkeys.
Schwartz's musicals include Wicked, Godspell, Pippin, Rags and Children of Eden. Rahman received two Academy Awards for composing the music of Slumdog Millioniare. The internationally acclaimed musician has also composed music for 127 Hours, Elizabeth: The Golden Age, Lord of War and a slew of Inidan films.
