Perez Hilton ‘Very Motivated’ to Look Good Playing Naked Prince Harry in NEWSical

Gossip blogger Perez Hilton may be the self-proclaimed “Queen of All Media,” but he’s taking on another royal title during his time in off-Broadway’s NEWSical: Prince Harry. “I’m very motivated by this one skit where I’m naked because I’m playing Prince Harry,” Hilton told Broadway.com of one of the show's stand-out moments, which skewers the British prince’s recent Las Vegas escapades. “It’s giving me that extra little something to work out even harder.”

Hilton recently finished his first weekend of performances in the satirical news show, and is thrilled to be making his off-Broadway debut. “The theater community is so amazing,” he said. “It really is a dream to be working in New York on stage. This [weekend] was the first time with an audience, which was different but really exciting. The biggest challenge for me is wanting to keep getting even better, and I will be. Come my opening night on September 17 I’m going to be a rock star.”

While Hilton is eager to impersonate today’s headline-makers in the show, he’s not above delivering laughs at his own expense. “I make fun of myself. Nobody is safe!”

So with his expertise on all things celebrity, is there any star Hilton would like to see make their way to Broadway? “I would love to see Madonna. She did Speed the Plow, but that was in the ‘80s. It would be awesome to see her do like a one-week performance of all her ballads. Something different.”

Hilton will star in NEWSical at the Kirk Theatre in Theatre Row for a four week limited engagement.
