The Keen Company's revival of Marry Me a Little, a musical which features songs from Stephen Sondheim shows such as Follies, A Little Night Music and Company, begins previews September 11 at off-Broadway's Clurman Theatre in Theatre Row. Lauren Molina (Sweeney Todd) and Jason Tam (Lysistrata Jones) star in the musical, which is scheduled to officially open on October 2.
Molina and Tam play two lonely New Yorkers left alone in their apartments on a Saturday night, yearning for romance, but never knowing that they’re only a floor away from one another. Jonathan Silverstein directs this revised production which features material from Sondheim’s catalogue that will be heard for the first time, including “Rainbows” (originally written for the unproduced Into the Woods film) and “Yoo-Hoo!” (cut from Sunday in the Park With George). The musical will also feature “Ah, But Underneath” (written for the London premiere of Follies), “Saturday Night,” “So Many People,” “Silly People” (cut from A Little Night Music), “Can That Boy Foxtrot!,” “Who Could Be Blue?” (cut from Follies), “Happily Ever After” (cut from Company) and more.
Molina appeared on Broadway in Rock of Ages and Sweeney Todd. Her additional theater credits include Nobody Loves You, Next Thing You Know, Ernest In Love, and Ten Cents a Dance. Tam was most recently seen on Broadway in the cheerleading comedy Lysistrata Jones, as well as A Chorus Line and Les Miserables. He has also appeared in productions of Nobody Loves You, Allegiance, The Distant Bells and The Yellow Wood.
