Misty Upham is the latest actress to land a role in the all-star film adaptation of August: Osage County, according to Variety. Upham will play Johnna, a young Native American hired to be the housekeeper of the Weston Family.
In August: Osage County, an Oklahoma family must face the hard truths that unravel when they all come together in the wake of the mysterious disappearance of the alcoholic patriarch. The film's cast includes Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Chris Cooper, Dermot Mulroney, Juliette Lewis, Benedict Cumberbatch, Abigail Breslin, Sam Shepard and Margo Martindale. Filming is set to begin this month.
Upham is best known for her critically acclaimed performance as Lila Littlewolf in 2008’s Frozen River. Her upcoming film projects include Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained and indie flick Jimmy Picard, opposite Benicio Del Toro.
August: Osage County originally premiered at Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre Company before transferring to Broadway in 2007 and earning the 2008 Tony for Best Play. The production closed on June 28, 2009.
