Stacy Keach, who was recently cast in a guest starring role in NBC’s midseason political comedy 1600 Penn, has joined another new sitcom, according to Entertainment Weekly. The stage veteran has been cast on ABC’s The Neighbors, which premieres on September 26.
The Neighbors follows the Weavers, a typical American family that moves into a neighborhood populated exclusively by aliens. Keach will play the father of Marty Weaver (Lenny Venito), appearing in the show’s Thanksgiving episode. The role of Keach’s onscreen wife has not yet been cast.
A longtime stage and screen performer, Keach most recently starred in Other Desert Cities, his first Broadway role in almost 20 years. Previously, he earned a Tony nomination for Indians in 1970. His additional theater credits include The Kentucky Cycle, Solitary Confinement, Deathtrap and King Lear.
