Nick Cordero will make his Broadway debut as Bourbon Room owner Dennis in the Broadway company of Rock of Ages beginning September 24. Cordero, who is an original cast member of the Rock of Ages first national tour, assumes the role from long-time star Adam Dannheisser while Dannheisser appears in Lincoln Center Theater’s LCT3 production of Disgraced. Dannheisser will return to the musical on November 19.
Set in L.A.’s Sunset Strip in 1987, Rock of Ages tells the story of Drew, a boy from South Detroit, and Sherrie, a small-town girl, both in L.A. to chase their dreams of making it big and falling in love. The show takes audiences back to the times of big bands with even bigger hair. The Tony-nominated musical features songs from Journey, Bon Jovi, REO Speedwagon and more, including “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Wanted Dead or Alive” and “Can’t Fight This Feeling.”
Cordero appeared in The Toxic Avenger Musical off-Broadway, as well as in regional productions of Little Shop of Horrors, The Last Five Years, Blood Brothers and Equus.
Rock of Ages continues to bring down the house at Broadway’s Helen Hayes Theatre.
