Marlo Thomas (Relatively Speaking, TV's That Girl) will guest star on the tenth episode of TV's The New Normal, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Thomas will play a real estate agent who serves as a mentor to Jane, Ellen Barkin's conservative character.
Show creator Ryan Murphy revealed further plans for the show's first season, including a nod to his other hit TV series Glee. While David's (Justin Bartha) career as a gynecologist was revealed in the first episode, there has been no discussion of Bryan's (Andrew Rannells) professional life. Turns out Bryan, who is loosley based on Murphy, is the showrunner of a hit musical TV series called Sing. The series even features a character named Clea (most likely a reference to Glee leading lady Lea Michele).
Murphy is also planning to have an entire episode filmed from the point of view of Barkin's character in hopes of balancing the polarizing political viewpoints of the series' characters. Murphy also revealed for the Halloween episode Rannells and co. will dress as the family from the popular reality TV series Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.
