Grace, a divinely dark comedy by Craig Wright, opens October 4 on Broadway. The production, which stars Paul Rudd, Michael Shannon, Ed Asner and Kate Arrington, is scheduled to play a limited engagement through January 6 at the Cort Theatre.
Directed by Dexter Bullard, Grace is the story of Steve (Rudd) and Sara (Arrington), a devout young couple who move to sunny, promise-filled Florida with big plans to open a chain of Gospel-themed motels. When a wounded rocket scientist neighbor (Shannon) and a cantankerous exterminator (Asner) enter the picture, Steve and Sara’s hopeful world is turned upside down.
“It’s a wonderful challenge, this play, and it makes people jerk up and look in the mirror,” Asner recently told Broadway.com. “It has many truths in it: Beautifully presented, beautifully acted.”
Grace includes scenic design by Beowulf Boritt, lighting design by David Weiner and costume design by Tif Bullard.
