Preview performances begin for Bad Jews, a world-premiere comedy by Joshua Harmon, on October 5 at off-Broadway's Black Box Theatre in the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre. Opening night for the Roundabout Theatre production is scheduled for October 30, with the limited engagement ending its run on December 16.
Tracee Chimo, Molly Ranson, Philip Ettinger and Michael Zegen star in the Daniel Aukin-directed production, which will launch Roundabout Underground’s sixth season of new works by emerging playwrights and directors.
Bad Jews is the story of Daphna Feygenbaum (Chimo), a “Real Jew” with an Israeli boyfriend she met on Birthright. When Daphna’s cousin Liam (Zegen) brings home his shiksa girlfriend Melody (Ranson) and declares ownership of their grandfather’s Chai necklace, a vicious and hilarious brawl over family, faith and legacy ensues.
The Bad Jews creative team includes set designer Lauren Helpern, lighting designer Mark Barton and costume designer Dane Laffrey.
