Wild With Happy, a new play by actor Colman Domingo, begins off-Broadway performances on October 9. The show is set to run through November 11 at the Public Theater. Domingo, a Tony Award nominee for The Scottsboro Boys, stars in the production and rounds out the cast of four that includes Korey Jackson, Maurice McRae and Sharon Washington.
The play tells the story of a young man named Gil (Domingo), a struggling actor, coping with the death of his mother and facing the decision of where to scatter her ashes. Ultimately, the objective of the subsequent road trip that he ventures out on is to find what would make her “wild with happy.” Domingo uses surreal comedy and imagination to handle the darker concepts of death and healing.
Wild With Happy is directed by Robert O’Hara. The show is set to have its West Coast premiere in June 2013, following this off-Broadway run.
