Fresh off scoring a Tony for Other Desert Cities, Judith Light is ready to cause drama among another affluent family. The Broadway.com Audience Choice Award winner is heading to Southfork as part of the cast of TNT’s hit Dallas reboot, TVLine reports. Light will play an unnamed "authoritative and controlling battle axe who will fight to the death to protect the people she loves” when the series returns for its second season next year.
Light has proven she’s got the lady balls for some tough acting (she earned her Tony for her no-nonsense performance as saucy Aunt Silda in Other Desert Cities)—but how will Light’s mysteriously fierce female fit into the shenanigans at Southfork? Check out our guesses for who Light’s character actually is below!
Ann’s Mother: TVLine guesses that Light will play the ferocious mother of Ann Ewing (Brenda Strong), which seems like the most logical choice considering the otherwise vanilla Ann could use a dash of spice in her story.
J.R.’s Mistress: J.R. needs some romance in his life, and it’s safe to say that Larry Hagman and Linda Gray’s characters haven’t been intimate since Dallas' original heydey. Enter Light, who may be able to take the attention away from Hagman’s runaway eyebrows.
Rebecca’s Mother: In the first season finale, Rebecca (Julie Gonzalo) revealed herself to be the daughter of Ewing family rival Cliff Barnes (Ken Kercheval). Could Light play Cliff’s sassy baby mama?
John Ross’ Cougar Lover: We can dream, right?
