Nice guys don’t necessarily finish first, as evidenced by the new musical The Other Josh Cohen, which begins preview performances on October 10 at the SoHo Playhouse. The new musical features book, music and lyrics by David Rossmer and Steve Rosen, Broadway alums and co-creators of the comedy improv show Don’t Quit Your Night Job. Ted Sperling will direct the show, which opens officially on October 21.
Just days after a poorly-timed Valentine’s Day break-up, nice guy Josh Cohen is the victim of an unfortunate apartment robbery which stripped him of everything but a single Neil Diamond CD. Six days later, a mysterious letter arrives in his mailbox that promises to change his life forever.
Rossmer and Rosen will both play Josh, one playing him in the present day and the other a year earlier. Joining the duo are Kate Wetherhead (Legally Blonde) as “A Lot of People,” Vadim Feichtner (The Burnt Part Boys) as “A Bunch of People,” Hannah Elless (Godspell) as “A Bunch of Other People” and Ken Triwush (Titanic) as “The Rest of the People.” The show will feature musical direction by Feichtner and choreography by Andrew Palermo.
