Simon Stephens' new drama Harper Regan opens off-Broadway on October 10 at Atlantic Theater Company’s Linda Gross Theater. Directed by Gaye Taylor Upchurch and starring Mary McCann in the title role, the drama will run through October 28.
This acclaimed British drama is made up of short vignettes that comprise one unforgettable weekend for the title character. Along the way McCann’s Harper Regan interacts with her mom, her husband, her daughter, a hospital nurse and a smattering of different types of men. These supporting characters are played by Mary Beth Peil, Gareth Saxe, Christopher Innvar, Vandit Blatt, Jordan Lage, Madeleine Martin, John Sharian, Peter Scanavino, Mahira Kakkar and Stephen Tyrone Williams.
The play first premiered at the National Theatre in 2008 and starred Lesley Sharp as Harper. The drama marks the first play of Atlantic Theater Company's 2012-13 season and the first production to play the newly renovated mainstage theater.
