Rattlestick Playwrights Theater's production of A Summer Day begins its run on October 10 at off-Broadway's Cherry Lane Theatre. Starring Karen Allen, the play is scheduled to open on October 25.
Written by Jon Fosse and translated and directed by Sarah Cameron Aselt, A Summer Day is set simultaneously in two different time periods in an idyllic, but isolated old house overlooking the water. The play allows audiences to both experience love and remember it long afterwards. The show hopes to evoke the nostalgia of the end of an affair, capturing love both in the moment and as a distant memory.
Allen made her Broadway debut as Helen Keller in The Monday After the Miracle. Her additional stage credits include Speaking in Tongues, The Country Girl and Extremities. She is best known for her film appearances in Raiders of the Lost Ark, Animal House, Starman and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
