Looks like Harper Regan is going to raise hell for another week. Simon Stephens' acclaimed new play has extended off-Broadway through November 4 at the Atlantic Theater. The New York premiere, directed by Gaye Taylor Upchurch and starring Mary McCann in the title role, opened on October 10 and was initially set to close on October 28.
One strange evening, Harper Regan (McCann) decides to walk away from her husband, her daughter and her home. She tells no one where she’s going or whether she’s ever coming back. She tosses family, history and fate up in the air, and it looks like she might be gone for good.
This acclaimed British drama is made up of short vignettes that comprise one unforgettable weekend for the title character. Along the way, McCann’s Harper Regan interacts with her mother, her husband, her daughter, a hospital nurse and more. These supporting characters are played by Mary Beth Peil, Gareth Saxe, Christopher Innvar, Vandit Blatt, Jordan Lage, Madeleine Martin, John Sharian, Peter Scanavino, Mahira Kakkar and Stephen Tyrone Williams.
