Modern Terrorism, or They Who Want to Kill Us And How We Learn to Love Them, a controversial new comedy by Jon Kern, opens October 18 at off-Broadway’s Second Stage Theatre. Directed by Peter DuBois, Modern Terrorism stars Utkarsh Ambudkar as Rahim, Steven Boyer as Jerome, William Jackson Harper as Qala and Nitya Vidyasagar as Yalda.
The new play tells the story of three terrorists who are hiding out in a New York City apartment. As Rahim (Ambudkar), a young bomber, develops feelings for his beautiful, enigmatic conspirator (Vidyasagar), he is torn between his duty and his heart. When a pot-smoking neighbor (Boyer) gets wind of the terrorists living upstairs, the group’s plans to blow up the Empire State Building spiral out of control.
Modern Terrorism features set design by Alexander Dodge, costume design by Mimi O’Donnell, lighting design by Russell Champa and sound design by M.L. Dogg.
