The Grinch is coming to town! Tickets are now on sale for Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas at Madison Square Garden, starring Broadway vet Jeff McCarthy. Featuring a book and lyrics by Timothy Mason and music by Mel Marvin, How the Grinch Stole Christmas will begin performances December 13 and play a limited engagement through December 30 at the Theater at Madison Square Garden.
Based on Dr. Seuss’ classic holiday tale of the same name, How the Grinch Stole Christmas is the story of a green, remorseful creature who lives on a mountain north of Whoville. When he is disturbed by the noisy Christmas celebrations of the town, the Grinch vows to keep Christmas from happening by posing as Santa Claus and stealing all of the presents in the town. The musical includes the classic hits "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" and "Welcome Home, Christmas."
How the Grinch Stole Christmas was originally conceived by Jack O’Brien at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego, California. On November 8, 2006, the production transferred to Broadway’s Hilton Theatre, directed by Matt August and starring Patrick Page as the Grinch. In 2007, the musical was revived for the holidays, with Page reprising the role of the Grinch.
