If Mitt Romney doesn't win the election, there will still be plenty of Mormons in the White House...on TV at least! The Book of Mormon star Rory O’Malley is set to join his former co-star (and college roommate) Josh Gad on NBC’s midseason political sitcom, 1600 Penn, which Gad also co-created.
According to TV Guide, O’Malley will play a rule-abiding tour guide who clashes with the President’s son Skip (Gad) as they both strive to offer the best tour to visitors of the White House. The series also stars Bill Pullman, Jenna Elfman, Amara Miller and Andre Holland, and will feature guest appearances by Broadway alums Stacy Keach and Missi Pyle.
O’Malley earned a Tony nomination for his role in the original Broadway cast of The Book of Mormon, which he continues to play at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre. O’Malley has previously appeared on Broadway in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. His film and TV credits include Law & Order: SVU, Nurse Jackie, Dreamgirls and the star-studded short 8.
