Broadway veterans Audra McDonald, Harvey Fierstein, Raul Esparza, Linda Lavin and more will join Oscar nominee Anne Hathaway when she takes the stage at Joe’s Pub on October 24 for the benefit concert, Perfectly Marvelous: The Songs of Cabaret with Anne Hathaway and Friends. (Clearly they weren’t kidding around when they said “and Friends!”)
Directed by Tony winner Ted Sperling, the concert will include music from both the film and stage versions of Cabaret, including “Wilkommen,” “Maybe This Time” and “Perfectly Marvelous.” The evening will benefit the revitalization of the Public’s downtown home at Astor Place, which was unveiled on October 4.
Hathaway appeared in the Public’s Shakespeare in the Park production of Twelfth Night in 2009, and will star as Fantine in the upcoming Les Miserables movie-musical. Fierstein is a four-time Tony winner, winning two for acting in Hairspray and Torch Song Trilogy and two for writing La Cage aux Folles and Torch Song Trilogy. McDonald has taken home five Tonys for Porgy and Bess, A Raisin in the Sun, Ragtime, Master Class and Carousel. Four-time Tony nominee Esparza’s Broadway credits include Leap of Faith, Speed-the-Plow, The Homecoming, Company and Taboo. Lavin has been nominated for six Tonys, winning one in 1987 for Broadway Bound. She last appeared on Broadway in The Lyons.
