Justin Guarini, Jill Paice and Lauren Molina have all signed onto celebrate the holidays in It’s A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play at Pennsylvania's Bucks County Playhouse. Gordon Greenberg directs the holiday production, which runs from December 13 through December 30.
Guarini will play Jake, with Paice taking on the role of Sally and Molina playing Lana. They join Broadway alums Garth Kravits as Harry/Jazzbo and Kevin Pariseau as Freddie. Additional cast members for the show will be announced shortly.
Based on the 1946 holiday classic, the play will be performed as a 1940s live radio broadcast and re-tells the beloved story of George Bailey. As he contemplates suicide, Bailey receives a visit from his guardian angel as he contemplates suicide one fateful Christmas Eve. The “live radio play” was written by Joe Landry and will feature choreography by Lorin Latarro.
Guarini is best-known for being the runner-up on season one of American Idol. He has appeared on Broadway in American Idiot and Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown. Paice appeared on Broadway in The 39 Steps, Curtains and The Woman in White. She was set to play the leading role in the recently-cancelled mounting of Rebecca. Molina currently stars in the off-Broadway Sondheim revue Marry Me a Little. Her Broadway credits include Sweeney Todd and Rock of Ages. Kravits appeared on Broadway in The Drowsy Chaperone and off-Broadway in Old Jews Telling Jokes and Toxic Audio Loudmouth. Pariseau appeared in the original Broadway cast of Legally Blonde and starred as Santa in the national Radio City Christmas Spectacular.
