Performances for the New Group's world premiere drama The Good Mother begin on October 31 at Theatre Row's Acorn Theatre. The first preview has been delayed from its original October 29 start date due to Hurricane Sandy. Starring Gretchen Mol, the off-Broadway show is scheduled to open on November 15, and will play through December 22.
The Good Mother tells the story of a single mother, Larissa (Mol), living and struggling in Mount Vernon, New York. After an accident occurs involving her daughter, she is forced to face a person from her sordid past. In addition to Mol, the cast also includes Mark Blum, Darren Goldstein, Alfredo Narciso and Eric Nelson.
Directed by Scott Elliott and written by Francine Volpe, The Good Mother features set design by Derek McLane, costume design by Cynthia Rowley, lighting design by Jason Lyons and sound design by Bart Fasbender.
