New York City's zaniest gay wedding is back! My Big Gay Italian Wedding begins performances at off-Broadway’s St. Luke’s Theatre on November 3. Directed by Sonia Blangiardo and written by Anthony J. Wilkinson, the gay wedding extravaganza features music and lyrics by David James Boyd. The new production stars My Big Gay Italian Wedding vets Wilkinson as Anthony and Daniel Robinson as his groom, Andrew.
In addition to Wilkinson and Robinson, My Big Gay Italian Wedding features Brett Douglas, Donna Castellano, Joe Scanio, Meridith Cullen, Kim Sozzi, Judy Torres, Justin Flexen, Liz Gerecitano, Megan Robar, Drew Little, Michael Gellert, Erik Ransom, Chad Kessler, Leah Gerstel and Paul Moon.
My Big Gay Italian Wedding tells the story of Anthony Pinnunziato (Wilkinson), a gay Italian-American from a large, chaotic family who wants to marry his boyfriend Andrew (Robinson) in a traditional wedding ceremony. The production satirizes the controversy surrounding same-sex marriage while drawing on larger-than-life gay and Italian characters. My Big Gay Italian Wedding originally premiered at the Actor’s Playhouse in November 2003, before moving to St. Luke’s Theatre in May of 2010 for a sixteen-month run.
