The Public Theater’s world premiere production of Richard Nelson's Sorry, the third play in his Apple Family series, opens off-Broadway on November 6. The opening date is no coincidence as Sorry takes place on Election Day!
Set one year after the previous Apple family drama Sweet and Sad, Sorry finds the Apple family—Benjamin, Barbara, Marian, Richard and Jane—sharing a meal in Rhinebeck, New York on the day of the presidential election. The meal leads the family to have a spirited discussion about their personal and political feelings. Sorry stars Jon DeVries, Maryann Plunkett, Laila Robins, Jay O. Sanders and J. Smith-Cameron.
The first two Apple Family plays, That Hopey Changey Thing and Sweet and Sad, were both set on the election nights of 2010 and 2011, respectively. Sorry is presented through the Public Theater’s Public Lab initiative, and will run through November 18.
