The beloved family musical Annie is back on Broadway in a revival directed by Tony winner James Lapine. Annie tells the story of a Depression-era orphan who journeys from Miss Hannigan’s oppressive orphanage to the Fifth Avenue mansion of Oliver “Daddy” Warbucks. Broadway.com resident artist Justin “Squigs” Robertson happily headed to Broadway’s Palace Theatre to see this larger-than-life musical and penned a colorful salute featuring the shows stars (clockwise) J. Elaine Marcos as Lily St. Regis, Clarke Thorell as Rooster Hannigan, Katie Finneran as Miss Hannigan, Anthony Warlow as Oliver Warbucks, Brynn O’Malley as Grace Farrell, Sunny the Dog as Sandy and Lilla Crawford as Little Orphan Annie. Peek under the staircase to see Annie’s orphan friends (from top) Madi Rae DiPietro as July, Tyrah Skye Odoms as Kate, Junah Jang as Tessie, Taylor Richardson as Duffy, Georgi James as Pepper and little Emily Rosenfeld as Molly. In the top right corner, Squigs also included Joel Hatch as Drake, Liz McCartney as Mrs. Pugh and Merwin Foard as F.D.R. Check out all these zany characters for yourself in Annie on Broadway!
About the Artist: With a desire to celebrate the magic of live theater and those who create it, and with a deep reverence for such touchstones as the work of Al Hirschfeld and the wall at Sardi’s, Squigs is happy and grateful to be among those carrying on the traditions where theater and caricature meet. He was born and raised in Oregon, lived in Los Angeles for quite a long time and now calls New York City his home.
