Dates have been set for Sierra Boggess' previously announced run as Christine Daae in the Broadway production of The Phantom of the Opera. Boggess will join the show on January 21, 2013 at the Majestic Theatre, and perform through March 2. Boggess will play shows Tuesday through Saturday evenings as well as the Saturday matinee, with Christine alternate Samantha Hill performing on Monday evenings and Wednesday matinees.
Bogges joins the production in time for the blockbuster musical's 25th anniversary on Broadway. The musical, which is the longest-running production in Broadway history, will mark the occasion with a special gala performance on January 26. Long-time Phantom star Hugh Panaro will stay on as the "Man Behind the Mask" during the musical's upcoming celebration.
Boggess made her Broadway debut as Ariel in The Little Mermaid, winning the Broadway.com Audience Choice Award for Favorite Breakthrough Performance. She can currently be seen as Fantine in the West End production of Les Miserables. She previously played Christine in the Las Vegas production of Phantom, as well as in the West End in the musical's sequel Love Never Dies. Panaro has played the Phantom over 1,800 times during three different engagements, including his most recent run that began in September 2010. Combined he has performed the roles of the Phantom and Raoul in over 2,800 performances of the Broadway production. His other Broadway credits include Lestat, Children And Art, Martin Guerre, Side Show, Show Boat, The Red Shoes and Les Miserables.
