Lisa Kerr will star as Cinderella at London's St. James Theatre in Cinderella: A Fairtytale. Directed by Sally Cookson, this new take on Cinderella features an original folk-jazz score by Benji Bower. Cinderlla: A Fairytale will run December 12 through January 26, 2013, with an official opening scheduled for December 18.
In addition to Kerr in the title role, Cinderella will star Craig Edwards as the Step Mother, Thomas Eccleshare as the Prince, Lucy Tuck as the Step Sister and Tom Godwin as the Step Brother.
When Ella’s mother dies, she is brought up by her devoted and loving father who teaches her the names and calls of the woodland birds that surround their home. But when her father marries again, Ella’s peaceful life is turned upside down by a host of new and unpleasant relations. It appears her only allies are the feathered friends who roost in the trees, but it turns out, they are not just any ordinary birds.
Cinderella: A Fairytale will feature set and costume design by Katie Sykes and lighting design by Matt Graham. Cookson’s production first premiered at the Tobacco Factory Theatre in Bristol in 2011.
