Francine Volpe’s new drama The Good Mother, starring Gretchen Mol and Mark Blum, opens November 15 at off-Broadway’s Acorn Theatre. Directed by Scott Elliott, the New Group production will play a limited engagement through December 22.
In addition to Mol and Blum, The Good Mother stars Darren Goldstein, Alfredo Narciso and Eric Nelsen. Set in Mount Vernon, New York, The Good Mother tells the story of Larissa (Mol), a single mother who can barely make the mortgage on her home. When Larissa goes on a date with a trucker named Jonathan (Goldstein), she leaves her daughter with a babysitter. But after a bizarre incident occurs, Larissa is forced to face the truth of her own past.
The creative team for The Good Mother includes set designer Derek McLane, costume designer Cynthia Rowley, lighting designer Jason Lyons and sound designer Bart Fasbender.
