Signature Theatre Company's revival of August Wilson’s 1990 play The Piano Lesson opens November 18 at off-Broadway’s Pershing Square Signature Center. Directed by Ruben Santiago-Hudson, The Piano Lesson stars Chuck Cooper, Roslyn Ruff and Brandon J. Dirden. The production will play a limited engagement through December 16.
Set in Pittsburgh after the Great Depression, The Piano Lesson is the story of the Charles family as each member has a different idea about what to do with an heirloom piano. The Piano Lesson is the fourth work in August Wilson’s ten-play Century Cycle. In addition to Cooper, Ruff and Dirden, the new revival stars James A. Williams, Jason Dirden, Eric Lenox Abrams, Alexis Holt and Mandi Masden.
The creative team for The Piano Lesson includes scenic designer Michael Carnahan, costume designer Karen Perry, lighting designer Rui Rita, sound designer David Van Tieghem and original music by Bill Sims, Jr.
