Dreamy '60s pop star Mark Wynter will join the West End cast of Dreamboats and Petticoats beginning November 20 at London's Wyndham Theatre. Wynter, who will perform some of his biggest hits including “Venus in Blue Jeans,” “Image of a Girl” and “Go Away Little Girl,” is set to appear in the musical through January 19.
Set in In 1961, Dreamboats and Petticoats follows young musicians Norman and Bobby as they compete to win a national song writing competition, and more importantly, the attention of the gorgeous Sue. When Bobby discovers that shy girl Laura is no slouch on the piano, however, love and rock 'n roll fame beckon. Dreamboats and Petticoats is written by Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran. The musical features popular songs of the early rock era including “Let’s Dance,” “Shaking All Over,” “Bobby’s Girl,” “Runaround Sue,” “Happy Birthday Sweet 16,” “Let it Be Me” and more.
Wynter is no stranger to the London stage. He made his debut in the musical Phil the Fluter and went on to appear in Phantom of the Opera, Cats, The King and I, Charlie Girl, South Pacific, Sweet Charity and Barnum. He was also featured in the films Just For Fun, The Haunted House of Horrors and Red.
