Patrick Wilson, David Hyde Pierce, Julia Murney, Jessie Mueller and more will perform at a concert benefit to aid New York and New Jersey communities affected by Hurricane Sandy. Titled City of Hope: Broadway Blows Back, the concert is scheduled for November 26 at Broadway's Gershwin Theatre.
The concert will also feature appearances by Christopher Sieber (La Cage Aux Folles), Elizabeth Stanley (Million Dollar Quartet), Ashley Brown (Mary Poppins), Robert Creighton (The Mystery of Edwin Drood), Max Crumm (Grease), Eden Espinosa (Wicked), Julie Halston (Anything Goes), Dee Hoty (Bye Bye Birdie), Natalie Joy Johnson (Silence! The Musical), Raymond J. Lee (Anything Goes) and Carrie Manolakos (Mamma Mia!). Additional performers will be announced at a later date.
The Broadway company of Wicked, in conjunction with Mark Fisher Fitness, is behind the event. The show is sponsored by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation and the Mayor's Fund to Advance New York City. The funds will support immediate aid needs – including, food, water and hygiene supplies – as well as long-term relief and restoration for victims affected by the hurricane.
