Way back in 1991, Sarah Jessica Parker played Ron Rifkin’s daughter in The Substance of Fire, a fabulous family drama written by Jon Robin Baitz and produced at Playwrights Horizons. More than two decades later, SJP and Rifkin are still pals, and the actress headed to the Public Theater on November 18 to support Rifkin, his young co-star Noah Robbins and the rest of the cast of The Twenty-Seventh Man. Rifkin & Co. play Jewish writers imprisoned in Stalin-era Russia in Nathan Englander’s stage adaptation of his own short story. The 90-minute drama is scheduled to run through December 9 at the Public, co-starring Chip Zien and Bryon Jennings.
