Debra Monk Promises 'Heat and Passion' Between Scarlett Johansson and Benjamin Walker in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof

Debra Monk is about to play mother to two very talented, hot youngsters. The Tony winner will lay down the law as Big Mama in Rob Ashford's highly anticipated Broadway revival of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, starring Scarlett Johannson and Benjamin Walker. Broadway.com recently caught up with Monk and urged the tremendously talented star to give us the scoop on the show’s all-star players.

“We have the most amazing cast. Ciarin Hinds is one of the great actors,” said Monk of her onstage husband. “We’re so happy and lucky to have a great cast.”

Johansson will play Monk's feisty daughter-in-law Maggie, with Walker taking on the role of Maggie's alcoholic husband Brick. So what do these two easy on the eyes stars bring to the Hot Tin table? “Beauty, intelligence and talent,” promised Monk, adding, “And heat. And passion.”

The new revival of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof begins previews on December 18 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre.
