Evita stars Ricky Martin, Elena Roger and Michael Cerveris will say adios to Argentina when they play their final performances in the Tony-nominated revival on January 26. The musical will continue its run at Broadway's Marquis Theatre, with replacement stars for the roles of Che, Eva and Juan Peron to be announced at a later date.
Featuring music and lyrics by Andrew Lloyd Weber and a book and lyrics by Tim Rice, Evita charts the rise and fall of Eva Peron, the one-time charismatic and glamorous young First Lady of Argentina. The musical includes songs such as “Buenos Aires,” “Another Suitcase in Another Hall” and “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina.” Directed by Michael Grandage and choreographed by Rob Ashford, the production earned three Tony nominations after opening in April.
In addition to Martin and Roger, the production currently stars Max von Essen as Magaldi and Rachel Potter as the Mistress.
