The Mystery of Edwin Drood Revival, Starring Chita Rivera and Stephanie J. Block, to Record Cast Album

Chita Rivera, Stephanie J. Block, Will Chase and the starry cast of The Mystery of Edwin Drood will record a cast album for the revival of the 1985 Tony-winning musical. The cast album will be recorded on December 10 and released on January 29, 2013 by DRG Records.

The show’s two-disc album will include a new Act Two opening number, an unrecorded number from Act One and extended ballet music from the dance scene in Princess Puffer’s opium den. The recording will also feature eight different tracks featuring the confession of each of the musical's possible murder suspects.

In addition to Rivera, Block and Chase, The Mystery of Edwin Drood stars Gregg Edelman, Jim Norton, Andy Karl, Jessie Mueller, Betsy Wolfe, Nicholas Barasch, Peter Benson and Robert Creighton. The ensemble includes Alison Cimmet, Nick Corley, Janine DiVita, Jenifer Foote, Justin Greer, Shannon Lewis, Spencer Plachy, Kiira Schmidt, Eric Sciotto and Jim Walton.

The Mystery of Edwin Drood features music, lyrics, book and orchestrations by Rupert Holmes; the new Broadway production features music direction by Paul Gemignani.
